Background and Education

I was born in Mitchell and raised on a farm near Ethan, SD.  My family was very large.  I have 6 brothers and 2 sisters.    I graduated from Ethan High School.  I went to college at SDSU and earned a degree in Sociology.  I continued my education at DWU and received my elementary education teaching degree there.  A few years ago, I earned my masters degree in Curriculum Instruction through Black Hills State University. I also received a Reading Specialist endorsement.  What a great learning experience this was!!

Teaching Career

My teaching career began in Alexandria, SD.  I taught 4th grade my first year and then moved to 2nd grade for 3 years.  My family moved to Little Rock, IA where I taught 1st grade at the Little Rock Community School for 9 years.

My family and I moved back to South Dakota and I began teaching in the Mitchell School District.  I taught 4th grade for 1 year and I have been teaching 1st grade for ten years.
